Every cloud vendor will tell you they're the best. AWS will show you a 400-page whitepaper. Google will dazzle you with AI buzzwords. Microsoft will remind you that you already use Office 365 and wouldn't it be convenient if everything just... stayed in the family.

All three are excellent. All three have trade-offs. And the right answer for your business has nothing to do with which one has the flashiest keynote presentation. Here's how to actually choose.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) — The Safe Bet

Best for: Most businesses, most use cases, most of the time.

AWS is the undisputed market leader with over 200 services, the largest partner ecosystem on the planet, and more certified engineers than the other two combined. If you Google a problem at 2am, there will be a Stack Overflow answer, a YouTube tutorial, and three competing blog posts about it.

Choose if: You're running e-commerce, SaaS, healthcare, or fintech infrastructure. You want maximum flexibility and the widest hiring pool. You're building something that might scale unpredictably.

Watch out for: The pricing dashboard. AWS billing is famously complex — we've seen companies rack up surprise bills that would make a grown engineer weep. Always set billing alerts on day one.

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — The Data & AI Play

Best for: Data-heavy businesses, AI/ML workloads, analytics platforms.

Google built the internet's infrastructure. BigQuery alone is worth serious consideration for any business drowning in data — it's faster, cheaper, and more elegant than most alternatives. GCP's AI and ML tooling is genuinely class-leading, which makes sense given that Google invented half the foundational AI research the industry runs on.

Choose if: Your workload is data analytics, machine learning, or you're already deep in the Google ecosystem (Workspace, YouTube, etc.). Startups also get very generous credits.

Watch out for: GCP has a smaller talent pool than AWS and a historical reputation for killing products (Google Graveyard is a real website). Enterprise support can also be slower to reach humans.

Microsoft Azure — The Enterprise & Microsoft Shop

Best for: Businesses already running Microsoft stack — Office 365, Active Directory, SQL Server, Teams.

If your company runs on Microsoft, Azure is the path of least resistance — and often the most cost-effective. The integration with existing Microsoft licences is genuinely seamless, and for regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government), Azure's compliance certifications are unmatched.

Choose if: You're a mid-to-large enterprise running Windows Server, SQL Server, or .NET applications. Your team already lives in Microsoft 365. Compliance requirements are central to your business.

Watch out for: Azure's interface is notoriously less intuitive than AWS and GCP. Onboarding engineers unfamiliar with the Microsoft ecosystem can be slower and more expensive.
